Emergency Medicine · Urgent Care · Rural Emergency Care
Emergency care reviewed by a family physician with fellowship training in acute care.
Many emergency departments, urgent care centers, and rural hospitals are staffed by physicians who trained in family medicine. When their care is in question, it helps to have an expert who shares that foundation. I am board certified in family medicine and went on to fellowship training in emergency and critical care medicine and point-of-care ultrasound, which most family physicians in the emergency department do not have. I work clinical shifts in trauma center, rural, and critical access emergency departments, and I have practiced in urgent care.

Why this background
The standard of care where family medicine meets emergency medicine
The same foundation, and more training
Like many physicians who staff community and rural emergency departments, I trained in family medicine. I then completed an acute care fellowship in emergency and critical care medicine at Ventura County Medical Center and a point-of-care ultrasound fellowship.
Current clinical practice
I work emergency department shifts now at a trauma center and and at rural and critical access hospitals. My opinions reflect how care is delivered today.
The whole arc of acute care
More than a decade in trauma center and rural emergency departments, critical access hospitals, and intensive care units in California and other states, often where backup is limited, plus several years in urgent care.
