Two Ketamine Assisted Therapy options

The difference is who is in the room with you.

With a therapist present

In the room: your therapist · Physician: in the clinic

  • Your therapist, or one I know who is trained in Ketamine Assisted Therapy, is in the room with you.
  • I do the medical intake and provide the medicine.
  • I am in the room for the welcome and the start of the session. Then I step out and stay in the clinic, available throughout.

With a physician present

In the room: Ben Mati, MD, the whole session

  • I am in the room the whole session.
  • I do the medical intake and the session.
  • Preparation and integration happen with your own therapist or support person.

Who is this for?

Often folks who have done therapy or other inner work and feel stuck, up against a barrier, or tired of going in circles come to Ketamine Assisted Therapy.

  • Some want something other than talk therapy.
  • Some are curious and want a more closely held setting than they have had before.
  • Some come with a diagnosis such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance use disorder, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), or other chronic pain.
  • Some are referred by their own therapist or psychiatrist.

The medical side

I work as an ER physician and have completed a Primary Care Psychiatry Fellowship. I am trained in Ketamine Assisted Therapy, Psychedelic Assisted Therapy, and the Hakomi method.

The medical intake includes secure forms, a short video, and a video visit with me to go over your health history and medications. Sometimes I will ask you to check with your own doctor first, and sometimes ketamine is not the right choice. More in the FAQ.

This is not emergency care. If you are in crisis, call or text 988, or call 911.

Ketamine is FDA-approved as an anesthetic. Using it this way is off-label. Experiences and results vary, and I cannot promise any particular outcome. Whether it is right for you is decided individually at a medical intake, before any session.

Another way to work together

Ketamine + Hakomi

Ketamine Assisted Hakomi Sessions add slow, mindful work before, during, and after the medicine.
